Catch David this summer at Pops NB! A free, outdoor, summertime orchestral concert, POPS NB will feature music of the children, youth and professional orchestras of the NBYO, along with special guest orchestras and artists, performing concerts of light classical and popular music. Co-hosted by David Myles and Monique Poirier, Pops NB will be the first of its kind; a signature, destination cultural event that will showcase New Brunswick talent and add to the reputation and stature of the province’s cultural sector.
“Pops NB will appeal to the widest possible audience and is the perfect orchestral concert for people who don’t know they like orchestras,” said MacLeod.
The featured, special guest orchestra for the first POPS NB is YOA Orchestra of the Americas. Led by Artistic Advisor Plácido Domingo, YOA is a world-class symphony orchestra of gifted young musicians, ages 18 to 30, representing 25 countries in the Western Hemisphere. POPS NB will climax a two-week residency of YOA in Moncton, and serve as the launchpad for the YOA Canadian tour, including participation in a series of headlining performances at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto. David Myles, Monique Poirier and Troiselle will be other featured guest artists for the event.
Pops NB will be a 4-hour outdoor concert in downtown Moncton on July 10, from 11 am to 3 pm, presented by the NBYO and the City of Moncton, in partnership with the Atlantic Nationals Automotive Extravaganza Friday Street Party. This addition of POPS NB to the Friday programming of Atlantic Nationals will allow event-goers to enjoy a full day of activity – from 11 am through to midnight. See you there!
