Our boy David Myles is once again singing for his supper this Christmas. In what has become an annual holiday event, Myles returns to his home province for a series of shows that raise money, awareness and food for New Brunswick food banks. It’s the third year for the event, called Singing For Supper, which sees Myles performing in a very different venue. The shows happen in malls, over the lunch hour. There the audience is asked to make contributions, either money or food, all of which goes to local food banks.
It’s been a busy year for Myles. He’s just got back from a lengthy tour that saw him spend two months out west, playing every town imaginable in B.C. and Saskatchewan. He’s also a proud new father, he and his wife celebrating the birth of a daughter earlier this year. Myles says that has brought his foodbank efforts clearly into focus: “I’ve become more motivated than ever this year … I can see how frightening it would be to face the holiday season without enough food to feed my family.”
The Singing For Supper tour is sponsored by CBC Radio, and our elves will be out to help collect the donations at each show. You can catch David Myles in concert in Dieppe, at the Champlain Mall on Wednesday, December 12, from noon until 1:30, then in Fredericton at the Regent Mall, Thursday Dec. 13th, same time, and on Friday at McAllister Place in Saint John, again from noon to 1:30.
