It was an exciting ECMA weekend – audiences loved David and he took home his first ECMA for Folk Recording of the Year. Immediately following the ECMA’s, David & Damhnait Doyle headed off to do a standing ovation filled tour of NL. Immediately following the ECMA’s, David was offered the opportunity to perform with Jools Holland in England in July. David will be part of Jools’ annual “Open Air-Picnic Style Concerts”. And then came the news that he had won the 2009 Great American Songwriting Competition in the Folk/Acoustic Category. David came home to Halifax briefly to host and perform in a national CBC radio program called “Tunes for Troubled Times” – a pilot concept he developed and submitted to CBC Radio. Just before he left for a Pacific Contact show in Vancouver, he received a call inviting him to meet with David Suzuki while he was in Vancouver. David is now performing on the west coast with Jill Barber and will be returning home to prepare for spring and summer touring in theatres and festivals.
