I hope you’re all doing well. I’m back from a great tour in Newfoundland and Labrador. We had a blast. What an amazing place. Also, touring with Damnhait Doyle’s new band, The Heartbroken, was wicked.
I spent this past week here in Halifax getting ready for a show that the CBC taped last night at the beautiful Rebecca Cohn Auditorium. It was called "Tunes for Troubled Times – Music From the Depression Era". I was lucky enough to host it and play a few tunes (Big Rock Candy Mountain, Cheek to Cheek and Hard Times). It was a very cool night. It’s going to broadcast on Canada Live later in the year and will be up on CBC’s Concerts on Demand as well. Should be a great listen. There was a slew of awesome musical guests, including Morgan Davis, Thom Swift, Rev.
Wallace Smith, Linda Carvery and a bunch of others. I’ll keep you posted on when that’ll be broadcast.
In other exciting news, I found out this week that I won the Folk/Acoustic Category of the Great American Songwriting Competition! It’s really exciting. Also exciting is that my main man Joel Plaskett won the Rock/Alternative Category. Yeah!
Anyway, that’s the update for now. I’m getting myself pumped up for a trip out west next week. I have a show at SAIT in Calgary on Thursday, March 26th and I’m opening a couple of great shows for Jill Barber on April 3rd in Victoria at the Alix Goolden Performance Hall and April 4th in Vancouver at the Rio Theatre. Hopefully I’ll run into some of you out there.
Thanks as always for the suppport.
I’ll attach a photo of me chilling in Labrador.
