This is a big week for me. On Friday (May 8th) my new record comes out. Sure, the timing is strange (to release a record I spent more than a year making) but I thought to myself: perhaps it is, in fact, the perfect time. I worked really hard to make something beautiful, relaxing, and refined and I can’t help but think the sound and mood of this record may actually be just what the doctor ordered!
How are you? Big things going on at Camp David these days. First off, I have a new song coming out May 3rd!! It’s called “Not This Time”. It’s about a stressed out dad who’s tired of saying yes to everyone and dreams of chilling out and partying again. Not at all autobiographical! Ha! I loved writing this one and my buddy Classified loved it right away too, so I knew he was the man for the job of producing it (perhaps he could relate to the theme as well!).
After a run of great shows I’m ready to hunker down and write. I love these moments. I swear it’s what keeps everything going for me. That feeling when a new song begins to take shape never gets old. I’ve been addicted to it since the first song I ever wrote. I’m recording a new full length record in June. Gonna make it count.
