Classified, David Myles to kick off Canada Day celebrations in Truro

Rap and hip-hop artist Classified is set to kick off Canada Day celebrations at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre on June 30. Tickets for the show, which also includes David Myles and Mike Boyd, will be on sale at 9 a.m. April 9 at the centre, online at or at any Ticketpro outlet.

The show will also feature David Myles and opener Mike Boyd, and will kick off the Town of Truro’s Canada Day celebrations from inside the Community Credit Union Arena on June 30.

Originally from Enfield, Classified recently performed and co-hosted the JUNO awards and picked up the East Coast Music Award for rap/hip-hop recording of the year, has had commercial success with singles like ‘Inner Ninja,’ ‘3 Foot Tall,’ and ‘Oh…Canada.’ Myles, who is set to perform at the Marigold Cultural Centre on April 11, has been making a mark in the hip-hop world by collaborating with Classified on ‘Inner Ninja,’ as well as his own folk album, In the Nighttime.

The two artists have collaborated on many singles, including Myles’ hit ‘So Blind,’ which was nominated for song of the year and fan’s choice of the year at the East Coast Music Awards.

Boyd, who happens to be Classified’s younger brother, is an emcee and lyricist. Over the last decade Boyd has supported Classified on tour throughout the world including national headlining tours, national support tours with Hedley, as well as international tours including the U.S. and Australia. His latest album ‘…Note The Sarcasm’ was released on March 25.

“We hosted April Wine for our first concert at the RECC, and wanted to follow up with something that would get the younger population excited,” said Jim Lambert, general manager of the Rath Eastlink Community Centre. “This show will attract people of all ages, from young teens to adults, and from outside the region too.”

All tickets are general admission. Until May 7, people can take advantage of early bird prices: $24.99 for ages 19+ (includes access to beer garden), and $19.99 for under 19. After May 7, the prices go up to $29.99 for 19+ and $24.99 for under 19. All prices do not include applicable HST and service charges.
